The Association's 2011 annual meeting will be held on the campus of Elizabeth City State University in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, on March 25-26, 2011. This year’s program has a breadth of presentations that deal with the History of North Carolina, Civil War/Reconstruction, and US History topics as well as World History topics. A special focus of the conference is on the use and practice of Public History. The conference is open to all, with a registration fee of $15 per person. Registration, applications and accommodation information are available at the ECSU Department of History & Political Science website: http://www.ecsu.edu/academics/artshumanities/hispolisci/ncah/index.cfm.
A special panel will be present on a Public History theme at the Museum of the Albemarle in Elizabeth City at 5:30 pm on March 25. The panel will highlight the following individuals:

A further Public History highlight of the conference is the participation of Dr. Jeff Crow, Deputy Secretary of Archives and History, NC Department of Cultural Resources. Dr. Crow will be the special guest speaker for the dinner program at the Museum of the Albemarle, 6:30 pm on Friday 25. He will be speaking on “Those Other First Families of North Carolina”, emphasizing the often-overlooked African Americans that helped settle North Carolina. The evening program, panel and dinner, is open to the public (without the need for conference registration). However, those wishing to attend the dinner must pre-register by March 18th. People outside of the Albemarle region can obtain registration information for the dinner and the conference online at the ECSU website for the Department of History & Political Science: http://www.ecsu.edu/academics/artshumanities/hispolisci/ncah/index.cfm.
